Jagex Partners to Release Melvor Idle, Inspired by RuneScape | Pocket Gamer.biz

Jagex’s publishing arm Jagex Partners has signed Melvor Idle, an idle game inspired by RuneScape to be released in November.

Currently in Early Access, Melvor Idle has been downloaded over 600,000 times on Steam, the App Store and the Google Play Store.

Brendan Malcolm, founder of Games by Malcs and creator of Melvor Idle, has been playing RuneScape since he was young and designed Melyor Idle as a way to reinvent the basic components of RuneScape in a relaxed setting.

Drawing inspiration from setting, skills, combat and mechanics, Melyor Idle is a distillation of the core components in an idle game in the same vein as games like Clicker Heroes and Egg Inc.

“Being able to work directly with Jagex on this has been a dream come true. I never imagined, when I started development on Melvor Idle in 2018, that I would end up receiving support from the very studio that inspired me in the first place, ”said Malcolm.

“[The support] will really help me establish Games by Malcs as a promising studio with an office in Perth, Australia. I look forward to working with Jagex to make Melvor Idle even greater success than I had hoped for.

Jagex learned about Melvor Idle in early 2020. He decided to reward the fan-made passion project and bring it to the attention of RuneScape players around the world.

“Every now and then we come across a game and a developer who are so well aligned with our core values that it just feels natural for Jagex Partners,” said Chris Pfeiffer, director of product management for Jagex Partners.

“With so many of our staff who are fans of the game, and seeing what Brendan has been able to achieve as a single player developer inspired by the games we’ve been developing for 20 years is truly magical. ”

In Early Access, on Steam, the game currently has 93% positive reviews. On iOS, it has a rating of 4.9 / 5 and 4.8 / 5 on Android.

Melyor Idle officially launched in November. It will be priced at $ 9.99.
