FACEBOOK is getting ready to launch a gaming app where you can watch professional gamers – and even compete against friends.

It is expected to be a direct rival to Amazon’s Twitch, Google’s YouTube, and Microsoft’s Mixer, and will launch today.

Mark Zuckerberg’s social network already has a Facebook Gaming section on the main site.

But the new app is designed to be a dedicated hub for the Facebook gaming community.

Facebook originally planned to launch the app in June, but moved it forward because people are spending more time at home, according to a New York Times report.

“Investing in gaming in general has become a priority for us as we see gaming as a form of entertainment that really connects people,” said Fiji Simon of Facebook, who runs the gaming app.

“It’s entertainment that is not just a form of passive consumption, but entertainment that is interactive and brings people together.”

Currently, the video game streaming market is dominated by the giants Twitch and YouTube.

And this despite the fact that around 2.5 billion people use Facebook every month.

Now, Facebook is hoping it can drive viewers away from Twitch by making it easier to stream mobile games.

There will be a “Go Live” button which will allow you to download mobile game streams to your device.

You’ll also be able to play some of Facebook’s exclusive games – the one that’s already available through Messenger.

These casual games can be played against friends.

Facebook Gaming also recently launched a “tournaments” feature that allows you to participate in virtual competitions.

The app will launch on Monday April 20.

It will initially only be available on Android devices, but is expected to arrive on iOS as well.
