India-based Mobile Premier League (MPL) has expanded its presence in Berlin, Germany with the acquisition of GameDuell.

Present in Europe, North America and Asia, MPL games are available in seven different languages.

This expansion is also MPL’s first step into the free-to-play space, adding to its portfolio of 40 casual online skill games.

“We are excited to expand our operations in Europe after successfully venturing into Indonesia and the United States. We believe our collaboration with GameDuell will provide us with the strategic support and expertise needed to drive this new journey forward,” said MPL CEO Sai Srinivas.

“We welcome the incredibly talented team at GameDuell on board, and together we look forward to creating best-in-class gaming experiences and growing the mobile F2P segment.”

In September, MPL was valued at $2.3 billion and raised $150 million in a funding round. The company was founded in 2018.

GameDuell CEO Kai Bolik said: “We are thrilled to embark on this new adventure with MPL and believe that the complementary strengths of both teams will enable us to further develop our GameDuell gaming communities around the world. “

Last week, SciPlay acquired a majority stake in Turkey-based casual mobile game developer Alictus in a $100 million cash deal.
