The American publisher Scopely continued its expansion by buying GSN Games from Sony Pictures Entertainment for $ 1 billion.

The price will be split 50:50 between cash and preferred stock, which will see Sony Pictures become a minority investor in Scopely.

GSN is best known for its mobile and web social casino games such as Solitaire TriPeaks and Bingo Bash; the latter has been downloaded over 70 million times.

The company has around 400 employees worldwide. Its CEO, Mark Feldman, will continue to oversee GSN’s operations.

As a combined company, the deal is valued at more than $ 5 billion for Scopely.

Better together

“The GSN Games organization is an exceptional team, and we’re excited to see what more we can accomplish together,” commented Tim O’Brien, Scopely’s Director of Revenue.

“We hope to take what is already a strong business and accelerate it through our publishing and technology infrastructure, unlocking even more value. “

“Over the past four years, and in the face of a global pandemic, GSN Games has undertaken tremendous technology and product improvements to meet our commitment to providing our players with phenomenal gaming experiences,” added Mark Feldman.

“I am delighted that GSN Games is now part of Scopely’s dynamic global mobile games business. “

In recent years, Scopely has grown through M&A activity, buying Marvel Strike Force from Disney and growing the title by 70% year over year. He also raised $ 340 million as part of Series E in October 2020.
